A U.S. federal judge has ruled against asset custodian Kingdom Trust in an ongoing lawsuit with Bitcoin IRA
In 2017 (pre BTC hard fork), after a friend had solicited input in this thread, I made this video exploring Bitcoin and basic cryptocurrency in western Africa (Cote d'Ivoire, more specifically). It was fun to make despite my very rusty French and I learned a lot in the process. The video had generally positive feedback and, to some, offered a few unique insights regarding the basic state of digital infrastructure as a precursor to "revolutionizing finance."
It's a bit cringe-y for me to watch two years later after everything that's transpired in the crypto world plus everything I've learned, so it got me thinking maybe it's time to make a new one based on what interests the general crypto community out in the world. Based on what's happening in my life, I have two potential options coming up, one is Ghana and the other is Argentina.
In Ghana there are plenty of crypto startups and from what I am told, it is ripe for integrating blockchain-based digital payments systems in restaurants, shops, etc. Argentina is interesting in a different way: there is a recession happening there and some would say the economic collapse has already begun. The US Dollar has been the main store of currency for a long time, yet the world is changing--will people stick with the dollar as a reserve or choose BTC instead?
In podcasts and Telegram chats and the general crypto-sphere, there is a lot of speculation regarding what will happen in the coming years to the global economies. Similar to my intent with the first video, I want to see and share what's actually going on where local economies are currently shifting.
That said, for those of you interested, maybe you can help me figure out how to do this. If anyone would like to contribute what they'd like to see, I'd appreciate your input as I gear up to do this. Some starting points:
- What specifically would you ask an average person regarding their use of money and potential uses of cryptocurrencies in their everyday lives?
- What types of vocations/social classes would you want to hear from?
- What do you find the most interesting regarding crypto outside of the US/Europe?
Cheers, thanks y'all
(mods: would prefer to flair this as "PERSPECTIVE" but it's not an option?)
